Other Lost Villages Lost Village of Clicket in Somerset Henry Buckton, author of Lost Villages: In Search of Britain's Vanished Communities (I.B.Tauris, 2008), contributed to a recent BBC Inside Out programme with Mark Horton. "Hidden away at the bottom of a dark valley on Exmoor lie the ghostly remains of a forgotten village. You will not find it on any modern maps, but the ruins of what was once the village of Clicket can be found in woodland to the south of Timberscombe. There are no roads to the village but there are footpaths, once well trodden by quarrymen, farmers and schoolchildren... Archaeologist Mark Horton has made it his life's work to uncover the secrets of the past and he loves a challenge... A search through the undergrowth reveals the crumbling walls of an old mill as well a packhorse bridge and evidence of several old houses...
